Firstly, after 8 rounds of touch footy I’d like to congratulate the competition leaders of each division and also thank each team for providing an enjoyable Monday night of entertainment. To those yet to post a win, congratulations to you also, the purpose of sport is equally about keeping fit, meeting new people and getting away from the distractions of every day life for a few hours.
The committee and I feel the vibe at the ground each Monday is positive, and we’d like to keep it that way. When considering that 99% of the players all live within 10 km of you, and a lot of competitors are your neighbours and your friends, we’d like to keep this positive spirit rolling and ensure that in doing so, we truly hope you understand the value in maintaining your heads and mouths when playing. Keep in mind, the girl or boy you are playing against, could be the same person sitting next to you at school the next day, or the man you are playing against could be the dad of a child you train or play with in the winter.
Bad sporting behavior not only makes things awkward for all concerned, but it taints both your own reputation and our Club’s. Keep it clean. Focus on the fitness, the fun, and the fact that you are doing something good for your body and mind, rather than something negative and regretful.
Please do your best for yourself, your team mates as well as respecting your opposition and the ref, after all is said and done the comp is a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers, and we’re doing our best to provide a happy, healthy outlet for the community.
