The age groups are 8-9 years old, 10-11 years old, 12-13 years old and 14-16 years old. So the youngest player should be 8 years old. Also note they must play in the age bracket they are turning this year. ie. 8, 9 this year to play in the 8-9s, 12 or 13 to play in the 12-13s etc. You can form a team in the 8-9s age group consiting of any mix of 8 or 9 year olds. Any person found to be playing over aged, their team will forfeit all points for the season.

The rules are very similar to Rugby League but with the tackles being replaced with touches.
The aim of touch football is to score tries by not getting touched by the opposition's team within 6 attempts, and placing the ball down in the try zone to accumulate points. The team finishing with the higher point score is determined the winner.
Each team can have up to 12 players (we recommend 10), with a maximum of six on the field at any time. Each team has unlimited substitutions. The game lasts 45 minutes, divided into two - 20 minutes halves and a five minute half-time break.

• 3 points for a win
• 1 for a loss
• 2 for a draw
• 3 for a bye
• 3 for a forfeit win
• -1 for a forfeit loss
• 5-0 score for a forfeit win
• A forfeit is constituted by a team not having with 4 players or more by the time the hooter starts the game. For mixed this is a maximum of 3 men and 1 woman or 4 women. The game can still be played if both teams agree, but the later team will still have a -1 recorded on the table and a 5-0 score against them.

In a normal round, 2 points each is allocated. When a finals match is drawn, a drop off game will occur. Each team will recommence the drop off period with 4 players, defending the same end of the field as at the end of play. Senior mixed teams must reduce to 2 females and 2 males. The drop off commences with a tap off at half way by the team that did not commence the match with possession. The game will commence with a 3 minute period of extra time. Whichever team leading at the expiration of the 3 minute period of extra time then that team will be declared the winner and the match complete. Should neither team be leading when a siren at the expiration of 3 minutes is sounded, the match will pause at the next touch or dead ball. Each team will then remove another player from the field of play. The game will recommence immediately after the players have left the field at thesame place where it paused (i.e. the team retains possession at the designated number of touches). The game will continue until a try is scored, the first team to score will be declared the winner. All normal substitution rules apply.
